During in 1980s and 1990s it seemed that Hollywood funnyman Eddie Murphy could do no wrong, putting out great film after great film and giving us a laugh a minute along the way. Unfortunately though, something went wrong somewhere and Eddie has been putting out a number of poor films over the past few years, struggling to find that spark that made him so great for so long.
Well it seems that Eddie Murphy might have decided that going back to what he does best could bring him back to the top, as he will reprise his role as Axel Foley for the Beverly Hills Cop 4 movie. Eddie entertained us in all three of the Beverly Hills Cop films at a time when it was a joy to watch the actor on the big screen, so why not return to the franchise in a big to resurrect his career?
Legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer is on board to produce Beverly Hills Cop 4 and he has revealed that they hope to get the movie into production this year, starting shooting the film in the Fall. While there is not a great deal known about Beverly Hills Cop yet, Jerry has stated, "We’re going to take Eddie [Murphy] back to Detroit. He’s going to be in Beverly Hills… So we’re going to have some fun with him."
The screenplay for Beverly Hills Cop 4 will be penned by Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec, who re just putting the finishing touches on the script. Meanwhile, Hercules director Brett Ratner is on board to direct the project and, with filming set to begin this Fall, we could see Beverly Hills Cop 4 hit the big screen as early as 2015.
