American actress Edie Falco is well known for her starring role in the hit television series Nurse Jackie (2009-13) as Jackie Peyton, a drug addicted nurse who is trying to balance the heavy demands of her job at a New York City hospital and the many personal issues that arise in this hilarious comedy drama. Her popularity was already established in the role of Carmela Soprano in the earlier long running hit series The Sopranos (1999-2007).
She began her career with a variety of minor roles in films such as The Addiction (1995); The Funeral (1996); Hurricane (1997) and Private Parts (1997). She co-starred with Camilla Belle and Elisha Cuthbert in The Quiet (2005) in the tale of a young deaf and mute woman who is sent to live with her godmother (Falco), and their daughter (Cuthbert). The young woman discovers the dark secrets that the family has been hiding.
Edie also co-starred with Samuel L. Jackson and Julianne Moore in the drama Freedomland (2006) in a film that tells the story about a black police detective who is trying to solve the case of a kidnapped boy while dealing with racial tensions.
Falco's most recent film is Gods Behaving Badly (2013) and stars Sharon Stone, Alicia Silverstone, Christopher Walken in a comdey tale of Greek gods who are living in modern-day New York City as they comically intervene in the lives of a young couple. Edie plays the role of the Greek goddess Artemis in this hilariously funny film. It's for certain that Edie knows how to bring enough spice to liven up any movie set.
