Danny Strong has been creating a new career for himself in the past couple of years. Strong, who was previously known mostly for his work as an actor on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gilmore Girls, has been steadily gaining notice as a writer, winning an Emmy for his work on creating HBO’s award winning movie ‘Game Change’.
Although it was rumored that Strong was on the shortlist as one of the contenders to write the two part ‘Mockingjay’, it was been confirmed by Effie Trinket herself (played by actress-producer Elizabeth Banks) that Strong will be writing both movies.

From her website, she writes, “Right now I’m filming The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, but the powers that be are hard at work adapting book #3, Mockingjay. Going Twilight-style, the third book will be split up into two movies, both written by Buffy alum Danny Strong. He acts and writes! He wrote the HBO flicks Game Change and Recount, so tight, I can’t wait to see what he does with Mockingjay!”
Catching Fire is set to release the November of 2013, with both parts of Mockingjay releasing consecutively the next two Novembers (of 2014 and 2015). It looks like Hunger Games fans will have a lot to look forward to.
Banks recently spoke up about working with Philip Seymour Hoffman on the set of Catching Fire.
