Elizabeth Debicki has had a major impact with her debut role as Jordan Baker in 'The Great Gatsby'. In her first major film role, she's worked with one of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood today along with one of the biggest directors.
When being interviewed by Interview Magazine, Debicki spoke about working with Baz Luhrmann, saying, "He's so full of art and creativity. Somehow that energy in him sort of overpowered the nervous energy in me."
She also discusses the stardom and fame that Gatsby is bringing her, explaining that she doesn't really care about anything else as long as she gets to act. She explains, "It doesn't really appeal to me very much. When I went to school, it was all very idealistic. It was all just about making art and making theater. When I did my first film, I was like, Oh my god. Is this actually a job? Cause this is what I would like to do for pleasure."
The Great Gatsby opened to a very strong box office in its opening weekend, and it's certainly managed to open doors for Debicki in Hollywood. The Great Gatsby is in theaters and along with Debicki, features Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton, and Isla Fisher.
