Actress Elizabeth Olsen has revealed that she has a huge fear of water following her first experience of the 1975 Steven Spielberg classic Jaws. Elizabeth claims that she watched the film when she was younger and it scared her so much that she now has a genuine fear of the water and has been permanently scarred for life.
Olsen explained, "I think it’s because I watched kind of every movie growing up as a kid - I was the youngest of four - [and] I loved these movies, but I do have a genuine fear of water because of Jaws. That was definitely my first understanding of what sharks were...Just like my first experience with spiders was from Arachnophobia, so [I'm] just totally scarred." Elizabeth also admitted that her fear of water has stopped her from watching the 2003 movie Open Water.
She added, "I knew of the film when it came out cause my brother’s a huge fan of it, and he and I have very similar taste and I trust his judgment. But I won’t, I just won’t see it, because I’m truly, genuinely, I wouldn’t be able to sit through it and probably [would] have to turn it off." You can see Elizabeth Olsen in her latest movie Silent House, which is set to be released on March 9.
