Over the past few years there have been a lot of rumours about the sexuality of Hollywood actress Ellen Page with a whole host of different rumours suggesting that she is gay. Most of these rumours were just ignored with most people believing them to be false, until Ellen finally came out as being gay earlier in the year.
Ellen Page has now opened up about her decision to come out as being gay, admitting that it was one of the most nerve-wracking things that she has ever experienced in her life. She also admitted that, while she is proud to be a role model for other gay women, she does still feel a sort of shame about her sexuality.
Page told the June issue of Flares Magazine, "I was emotional, deeply, deeply emotional. You think you're in a place where you're all 'I'm thrilled to be gay, I have no issues about being gay anymore, I don't feel shame about being gay,' but you actually do.You're just not fully aware of it."
Ellen then went on to admit that she has received a lot of positive response since coming out, when she was actually expecting much more hate, "I expected so much more hate. It was just remarkably positive, which is beautiful, because it's indicative of the change that's happening," added Page.
As for her acting career, fans can next see Ellen Page on the big screen when she reprises her role as Kitty Pryde in the upcoming movie sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past, which opens on May 22 in the UK and May 23 in the US.
