Actress Ellen Page went to a NHL hockey game wearing a black blazer, graphic t-shirt, black leather trousers, bright yellow socks and shiny black shoes but the part of her ensemble that garnered the most attention was her cap which had the words "Tomboy" emblazoned on the front of it.
The "X-Men: Day of Future Past" actress in a recent interview disclosed how much better she feels now that she does not have to hide her choice to be a lesbian. In her conversation the supremely talented actress revealed that she had been thinking about whom she was attracted to since she was a young, extremely competitive soccer player who felt the brunt of insults aimed at her because of how hard she played.
Since 2007 she had been in two same-sex relationships which she kept secret. The first began shortly after the premiere of her movie "Juno" and it lasted two years while a second relationship that she describes as a much "pricklier affair".
She admits that she feels much better since coming out and is enjoying life immensely both on a personal and professional level. Ellen Page is currently on movie screens as Kitty Pryde in the movie "X-Men" Days of Future Past" which is enjoying huge commercial success having already grossed over 300 million and showing no signs of slowing down.
The actress recently spoke out about her preference for baggy clothes stating that she likes to be comfortable and how the stereotypes about how men and women are supposed to act don't help anyone in her view.
Her next movie project is "Freeheld", a comedy drama of immense potential as she will play a car mechanic who is the lover of a police detective played by Julianna Moore as they both fight to get Moore's pension benefits after she is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.
Ellen Page with her coming out and the wearing of the hat "Tomboy" has made life much easier for many young women and also is more at ease with herself and only good things such as sterling acting performances can come from that feeling.
