The hit HBO fantasy drama series Game of Thrones has made household name of a number of stars who were unknown before the series began. Actress Emilia Clarke has become one of the most recognisable faces in the acting industry today, thanks to her portrayal of the character Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones.
Over the course of the series, we have seen Emilia Clarke naked on a number of occasions, having to shoot sex scenes along the way. A report suggested that Emilia had claimed that she "can't stand" the Game of Thrones sex scenes but the actress has now decided to clarify what she actually said.
Clarke took to her official Instagram account, to tell her fans and followers, "I was followed into a party by a journalist who asked me a question about female empowerment and then quoted me entirely out of context for an outlet I didn’t agree to speak with. So I feel now, with the beauty of Instagram I should clarify my statements, if for nothing else than for posterity."
It continued, "In drama, if a nude scene forwards a story or is shot in a way that adds insight into characters, I’m perfectly fine with it. Sometimes explicit scenes are required and make sense for the characters/story, as they do in Westeros. If it’s gratuitous for gratuitous sake, then I will discuss with a director on how to make it more subtle. In either case, like a good Mother of Dragons, I’m always in control."
We will get to see Emilia Clarke back on our screens as Daenerys Targaryen, when Game of Thrones season 6 premieres on HBO in April 2016.
