Eminem is famous for using offensive language and controversial subject matter in his lyrics. It seems that he's once again angered his critics with his new album. Although one has to wonder if the critics were expecting anything less from the artist that seemingly built a career by disregarding any form of political correctness.
Set for release on November 5th, 2013, Ememin's newest album, "Marshall Mathers LP 2" is already making waves among both critics and fans. The first single released from the album, "Berserk," has already sold over a million copies. It's the recent release of his single "Rap God" however, that has critics across the nation up in arms.
With lyrics that include the words, "little gay looking boy" and other offensive terms related to homosexuality, it seems that the artist we've come to expect offense from has delivered. Other references refer to the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal and the Columbine murders. Still, Eminem maintains that he is not actually homophobic, and even Elton John, who is openly gay, has defended him.
Whether you think he's a lyrical genius, or a representation of everything wrong with society, one has to admit that the over 6,000 words Eminem spits out in just over six minutes is pretty impressive. Opinions dictate whether he's an actual rap god or not, but certainly one of the most recognizable names in hip hop has stayed true to form and delivered the controversial content we've come to expect from him.
