Emma Roberts has been cast in the highly coveted TV Series ‘Delirium’, which is based on the hit YA novel of the same name. The show is being developed by Fox, and is set in a future where love is banned, and the population gets matched to their respective partners. It’s quite similar to other YA novels out right now, especially with the whole ‘government control’ and post-apocalyptic theme running throughout.
While the novel was originally set to become a movie at Fox 2000, the studio seemed to have had a change of heart and decided to make it a show instead. The choice is a wise one as there has been a recent glut of YA movies at the box office lately, trying to emulate the successes of the Hunger Games and Twilight series.
Delirium is not nearly as well known as those two novels, and not even as well known as ‘Divergent’, touted to be the next big thing in YA book-to-movie adaptations.
With the a television show, ‘Delirium’ will be competing with CW’s ‘The Selection’, also based on a YA novel and also having to deal with arranged marriages. This is where casting Emma Roberts would be a huge deal – her name would manage to draw in a lot of young fans, something that the CW has yet to do with their shows.
