Often a lead in scary thrillers, Erica Leerhsen will be co-starring in the next Woody Allen film, Magic in the Moonlight. As is usual for the auteur's films, Allen will be writing and directing, and the leads are Emma Stone, Colin Firth and Marcia Gay Harden. While not her only foray away from scary movies, this will be one of her larger non-horror roles. This won't even be Leerhsen's first part in one of Allen's movies.
The filming for Magic in the Moonlight took place in France, the second film Allen has shot there in the past few years. Having been kept secret, the plot for the upcoming film is unknown. Only a few stills have been released to date, the images themselves only revealing the style of clothing some of the characters wear with Variety's Dave McNary speculating a 1930's setting.
Screaming, running from psychotic killers, and dying in gruesome ways - Leerhsen's career is full of horror flicks like Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Wrong Turn 2: Dead End, but the actress has also appeared in several television series as well. While she had bit parts in episodes of such shows as The Sopranos, The Good Wife and Alias, her longest run was over a dozen episodes on the early 2000's series, The Guardian. Erica has also been in non-thriller films as well, including Woody Allen's Anything Else in 2003.
While her appearances in the more violent, more frightening of films is unlikely to end anytime soon, Erica Leerhsen continues to broaden the type of roles she takes on. While another horror film she starred in, Mischief Night, released in October of 2013, she does also land roles like she did in a 2012 episode of Person of Interest. Look for her in Magic in the Moonlight sometime in 2014.
