Well the weekend is now over with but there was a whole lot going on this weekend, especially from the San Diego Comic Con, which gave us a very good look at a lot of upcoming comic book movies. One comic book movie that we have been really looking forward to earning more about is the Marvel movie Ant-Man, which will open next year.
Since the moment it was announced that an Ant-Man movie was being made, it has been hit by a lot of issues and this weekend revealed yet another, confirming that Patrick Wilson had to pull out of the project due to scheduling conflicts. Fortunately though, San Diego Comic Con did give us a lot of interesting and positive information about the Ant-Man movie.
When it was previously announced that actress Evangeline Lilly had been cast in Ant-Man, there was a lot of talk about who she would play in the movie, with many suggesting that it would be Janet Van Dyne. However, it was then claimed that Evangeline will actually play the new character Hope Van Dyne, who is the daughter of Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne.
Those of you who are familiar with your Ant-Man will know that Janet Van Dyne is The Wasp and it was suggested that the mantle will be passed on the Hope Van Dyne for the Ant-Man movie. However, it has now been confirmed that Evangeline Lilly will play Hope Pym in Ant-Man, who goes on to become the villainous Red Queen in the comics. It will be interesting to see how Marvel work the character into their MCU and whether Evangeline will play The Wasp or Red Queen. Watch this space!
Ant-Man will open on July 17, 2015 in both the US and the UK.
Do you think Evangeline Lilly should play The Wasp or Red Queen in the MCU?
