Ewan McGregor’s turn as Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of the few high points of the prequel trilogy, and fans would love to see him back in character for a possible spin-off. In a new interview with MTV [while promoting his latest flick ‘Jack the Giant Slayer’], McGregor was open to the idea of a possible spin-off film based on his character.

He said, “I think it's a good idea. The only bit that I could get away with doing is after the last one I made, 'Episode III,' before Alec Guinness, there's that period where he's in the desert."
The most we know of Obi-Wan’s time during the period between the third and fourth movie is that he was in the desert in Tatooine, supposedly watching over Luke and Leia Skywalker. McGregor agrees that that window of time would be the best to tell any stories about Obi-wan, saying, “That might be my window, there, to tell that story. I don't know what he did in the desert. We could make up some stuff."

There are several Star Wars spin-off films in the works
McGregor definitely seems interested in the idea, as he says that the idea could be ‘quite exciting’ and he’d definitely ‘be up for it’. Although Disney’s focus on the spin-off films right now seems to be based on the Han Solo and Boba Fett movie, the idea of an Obi-Wan prequel is quite intriguing. As a Jedi trying to stay off the radar, there’s not a whole lot of inter-galactic adventures Obi-Wan could have gotten into during those years on Tatooine, but considering that Tatooine was a planet so far removed from the Empire, it could have been easy to have some adventures on the planet itself.
