The beautiful 65 year old actress Fanny Ardant stokes the fires of intrigue in her role of Caroline, a married dentist who becomes bored with retirement and while learning how to make web pages at a class for computer users becomes involved in an affair with the much younger lecturer.
This role would not cause much of a buzz in the film industry but it has become a topic of conversation because this is not a situation in which the older woman is pursuing the younger man but instead it is the exact opposite. In this role the younger man pursues her and admits that he often used to visit her dental office just so that he would have the opportunity to be around her.
Her star role in "Bright Days Ahead" is intriguing as it seems to go along with the mischievous personality of a woman that admits to loving wild men and feeling sorry for Dominique Straus-Kahn and the treatment he received from the justice system of the United States.
In the movie she shows a little 'naughtiness' in her persona and shows how she embraced her character's transformation as a result of retirement.
The movie is one that places a woman who as Gerard Depardieu noted "is the kind who likes to borrow trouble" in her ideal environment even though she is seen in a manner that is very uncharacteristic of her. She bleached her hair blonde and the stylish French woman as she is known to fans wears jeans constantly throughout the movie.
The one thing that is the norm about her and the movie is that her persona and her looks make her incredibly enchanting and allow the audience to be able to understand her character's actions and connect with her even though in the movie she may be acting in a manner that is socially disapproved of. It is this ability to connect with her audience that makes Fanny Ardant someone that is loved by entertainment insiders and keeps her in demand with filmmakers as an actress.
