While technology has come along way over the past 30 years, it is fair to say that all of the special effects and green screens in the world can do nothing to improve on the movies that were made in the 1980s. The 80s gave us hundreds of classic movies, with one of the most popular movies of the time being the hit 1986 classic Top Gun.
It has been 30 years since Top Gun hit the big screen and, over the course of those 30 years, there have been plenty of fans calling for a sequel to be made, with plenty of rumours that we are actually going to get a Top Gun 2. However, we have yet to actually see any real progress being made on a Top Gun sequel and it looks more and more unlikely that we will ever get to see on.
With that said though, Val Kilmer, who played the role of Iceman in Top Gun, has admitted that he would definitely be up for doing Top Gun 2, while Tom Cruise, who starred in the lead role of Maverick, has hinted time and again that he could be persuaded to make a return to arguably his biggest role of his career, which has all given fans around the world hope.
There have been plenty of people being linked to writing a script for Top Gun 2, as well as directors being rumoured but, the fact of the matter is, there are still no real plans to make a Top Gun sequel in the near future. Sorry guys!
