Pride FC mixed martial artist heavyweight legend Fedor Emelianenko recently sparked controversy with his recent criticism of Mirko "Cro Crop" Filipovic. He attended Mirko's most recent fight and to say her was unimpressed is an understatement. Mirko lost the fight by submission to lightly regarded heavyweight mixed martial artist (MMA) Oleksiy Oliynyk and he was very critical of his performance.

Fedor Emelianenko basically stated that he thoughth Mirko "Cro Crop" Filipovic no longer has the physical condition or mental attitude necessary to be a top MMA fighter. These comments led to a response from Mirko who while acknowledging his respect for the accomplishments of Fedor Emelianenko stated that he does not need Fedor to "act like his mother". The comments of Fedor Emelianenko however did gain the attention of many mixed martial artist insiders in part because it might suggest that Fedor Emelianenko might be interested in returning to the sport as an analyst or even a coach.

There is no question that Fedor Emelianenko is considered one of the greatest fighters in the history of mixed martial arts fighting and as such his presence as a coach or as a guest analyst is something that would bring even more attention to the sport of mixed martial arts. Observers only have to look at how impactful his comments about Mirko "Cro Crop" Filipovic's performance were to appreciate the benefit he could provide to an MMA event. His statements about Mirko Filipovic have literally put Mirko's career on a life preserver and now if he were to lose his next fight the questions about his career being able to continue would certainly increase.

There are some individuals whose comments carry far greater weight than the average person and Fedor Emelianenko is one of those individuals. Will Fedor Emelianenko's post-fighting career include him becoming a guest analyst is a question that no one has the answer to but one thing is certain and that is his comments will be honest and unrestrained. He seems similar to a certain 'head' of the UFC named Dana White. Will a pairing of these two men happen in the future?
