While many people around the World were eager to see the new Star Trek movie, Star Trek Into Darkness, it seems that not all of them were impressed with the film. Star Trek Into Darkness has received a very mixed response and has not exactly been as big a box office hit as anticipated.
Already, Star Trek Into Darkness writer Damon Lindelof has come out and apologised for the unnecessary inclusion of that scene of Alice Eve in her underwear. While that underwear scene did receive a fair amount of backlash, there seems a bigger issue for some fans.
Actress Felicia Day has come out and admitted that she was very disappointed with Star Trek Into Darkness, for its failure to have more female leaders. She wrote, "seriously, in the future not one woman over 40 is in charge in this world?" and she has a fair point.
Star Trek Into Darkness shows a future, where it seems that almost the entire female population has been wiped out, without any explanation why. With a Star Trek 3 movie a certainty to happen, it will be interesting to see if they take the fans views into account and introduce more strong female characters.
