Chelsea played Manchester United at Old Trafford today and, although Fernando Torres did manage to get on the score sheet, he also missed a number of chances, including an open goal. The chances missed by Torres could have brought Chelsea back into the game, which they ended up losing 3-1.
Fernando Torres joined Chelsea during the January transfer window from Liverpool for a massive fee of £50million and he is proving time and again that the value does not match the player. It seemed that Torres may have found his old form after getting on the score sheet but failed to take advantage of a number of chances and missed a sitter in the second half.
Anybody involved with Liverpool must be watching and laughing as Fernando Torres was past his best for the months leading up to the transfer window. Meanwhile Chelsea fans must be ruing the missed chances that Torres continues to throw away. Fernando Torres could very much destroy Chelsea’s title chances and a move away from the club could become a possibility if his fortunes do not improve.
