Famed Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh is known for doing her own stunts and fighting in her own films. Over the years she has picked up a variety of martial arts skills from fellow stunt men in the industry and from some personalized trainers who helped her to prepare for some roles.
Many people might wonder if Yeoh has a particular style of fighting and the answer is no. Yeoh states that she learns the basic moves of a fighting style and then incorporates them into her own unique system. She also claims that many of the traditional kung fu fighting styles are too dated to use on film and seem impractical for a street fight. So she has to “modernize” many of her fighting moves.
When Yeoh performs in films that deal with a specific of time such as the role she did in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, she takes the time to perfect a particular fighting style for authenticity. Other than that, Yeoh is fighting in her own style and in her own way.
Fans of Michelle Yeoh can see some of her spectacular moves in films such as Police Story 3: Super Cop, Tai Chi Master, The Heroic Trio, Silver Hawk and The Mummy: Curse of the Dragon Emperor. Currently, Yeoh is around 50 years old and still continues to perform her own combat moves in her films.
