'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' has yet to wrap filming, but we're already getting details about when the third film, 'Mockingjay', might start filming. Russ Bowen, the reporter who managed to give us all the Hunger Games scoops last year, has gone to Twitter to give two very important updates on Catching Fire and Mockingjay.
He tweets, "Catching Fire filming 2 more weeks in Hawaii and then 2 weeks in LA. Over budget." While that's not necessarily bad news, it's not surprising either considering that the original wrap date for filming was at the end of December. A month of extra filming would have been hard to do within budget. Hopefully, this means we'll get the trailer for Catching Fire within the next few months as they go into post-production after filming wraps in LA.
About Mockingjay, he tweets, "Mockingjay starts shooting in July. Where hasn’t been finalized." If filming is indeed starting in July, Jennifer Lawrence's schedule has never looked so packed. X-Men: Days of Future Past is set to begin filming within the next few months, and it's unlikely that she'll be able to wrap up and move over to Mockingjay that quickly. She would also have to squeeze in David O. Russell's untitled Abscam project as well as the upcoming Ends of Earth sometime in the next year.
We'll find out for sure once the studio confirms the dates, probably within the next few months. Until then, you can look forward to new promotional material appearing from 'Catching Fire', which is set to release on November 22nd, 2013.
