From the moment that it was announced that former One Direction star Harry Styles had decided to try his hand at acting and had landed himself a role in the new Christopher Nolan movie Dunkirk, there has been a huge amount of attention surrounding the project. Most people were interested to see what Harry Styles would look like with short hair, or what he would be like as an actor.
Well his Dunkirk co-star Fionn Whitehead, who is enjoying a steady rise in Hollywood himself, has been talking about the hysteria surrounding Harry Styles acting debut, and he has admitted that things have gone a bit too crazy. Fionn says that, while he was impressed with the acting ability of Harry, it seems like everyone has forgotten about the story of the movie and the rest of the talented stars involved.
Whitehead was speaking with Digital Spy, when he shared, "I think the hysteria – [perhaps] it should have been expected when you take a figure like that and give him a short back and sides and put him in a uniform. I think it's got a bit silly really."
He added, "The meaning has got lost somewhere along the way and people have stopped realising there's an amazing cast – including Harry – but there's, you know, the creme de la creme of actors. I think the focus should not be Harry Styles doing a movie, it should be on the piece in general or his ability to act. And he's great."
Dunkirk features such top Hollywood stars as Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Kenneth Branagh, and Mark Rylance, among a huge cast, with the movie set to open on July 21 in both the UK and the US.
