We at FansShare put our money where our mouth is back in September, when we stated that we believed that Floyd Mayweather would fight the winner of the Miguel Cotto vs. Antonio Margarito. Cotto went on to win that fight back in December and has now agreed to accept a fight with Floyd Mayweather on May 5. However, we did get one key point wrong.
We thought that once the fight had been agreed, we would see Miguel Cotto step back down to welterweight for the fight. Yet it appears that Floyd Mayweather is in fact stepping up in weight and the fight will take place at light middleweight. Miguel Cotto is the owner of the WBA light middleweight title and Floyd Mayweather will be almost certain to add that to his list of titles from over the years.
Mayweather said of the fight, "Miguel Cotto is a world-class fighter who can never be taken for granted and continues to prove he is one of the best in boxing. I have no doubt in my mind that my title belt collection will increase once again." The Floyd Mayweather vs. Miguel Cotto fight for the WBA light middleweight title will take place on May 5, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. We tip Floyd Mayweather to win convincingly on points.
