When it comes to the big tennis tournaments there are always going to be a few surprises thrown into the event, with some big names getting beaten early, and that has certainly been the case this week. The French Open is taking place at Roland Garros and we are still in the early stages of the tournament and we have already seen some big names going out of the event.
Serena Williams has been knocked out
The biggest name that we have seen getting knocked out of the French Open is none other than the Women's World number one Serena Williams. Many people were tipping Serena to have a big tournament, with some even suggesting she could go on to win the tournament. That will certainly not be the case for Williams, as she was knocked out of the French Open by World number 35 Garbine Muguruza, who won their second round match 6-2 6-2.
This has led to many people suggesting that we have seen the end of the Serena Williams domination, with some claiming that there is no longer anyone in the game who is actually scared to face. Serena is not the only big name to get knocked out of the French Open early though.
Agnieszka Radwanska is also out
Agnieszka Radwanska is also out
Another of the surprise results saw number three seed Agnieszka Radwanska getting beat in straight sets. Agnieszka was the big favourite to come through her match against the unseeded Croat Ajla Tomljanovic, but it was Ajla who found it comfortable, winning the match 6-4 6-4.
There have been plenty more casualties along the way and these are just two of the biggest ones.
