The tennis season is well underway now and we have some very exciting tournaments coming up over the coming months. Arguably the biggest and best tennis tournament of the year is the Grand Slam in the UK, which is Wimbledon. Every tennis player in the world would love to play at Wimbledon and there will be many excited players going into the tournament this Summer.
One such tennis ace, who will be trying to perform and impress at Wimbledon, is the French star Alize Cornet, who has had a mixed year so far in 2014. Alize Cornet started the year out well, by beating world number one Serena Williams on her way to the Dubai final. Unfortunately though, things have not been going too well for Alize since then, as the grass court season comes into play.
Due to her technique, Alize Cornet's game does not suit the grass court and she struggles to play her best tennis on the surface. With Wimbledon just around the corner, Alize would have been hoping for some good preparation leading up to the tournament but, things have not been going too well.
Alize Cornet played in the WTA AEGON INTERNATIONAL this month and, while she was hoping to go deep into the tournament, Alize lost in the second round 5-7 6-1 6-7 to German star Angelique Kerber. Cornet's performance in the second set gave her some hope, with some good tennis but her inability to maintain that form ultimately led to her defeat.
We look forward to seeing how far Alize Cornet can go at Wimbledon but we cannot see her going too far in the tournament.
