So it really does seem like a movie universe is the way that the big Hollywood studios are looking to go these days whether there is really a need for one or not. While the comic book movie universe has proved successful for Marvel and is looking like doing the same for DC in the near future, there have been constant question marks of the need for the planned Dark Universe which Universal has planned.
Following the new The Mummy movie, which is the first step on this path towards the Dark Universe, it was suggested that Universal might be better off doing away with the idea all together, since the film was not exactly considered a success. However, Universal are not giving up hope of making a success of the Dark Universe and are pushing ahead with their future plans.
One of the projects that is set to be a part of the Dark Universe, is the Bride of Frankenstein, which was due to see Angelina Jolie starring in the lead role. There was then reports that he Bride of Frankenstein movie was being put on hold while the script gets cleaned up, which led to suggestions that Angelina Jolie could not wait around for the project to begin, so would have to exit it.
Now though, it has been reported that the Bride of Frankenstein director Bill Condon has already got his Angelina Jolie replacement in mind, as he is hoping to get Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot on board. It would be interesting to see if Gal would be interested in joining another movie universe, especially one which seems so troubled.
