Most of you will recognise Jack Gleeson for his impressive performances as Joffrey, in the hit HBO fantasy television series Game of Thrones. However, Jack has been working his way up the industry ladder from a young age, appearing in such hits as Batman Begins. Here, Gleeson discusses the character, Dara, that he plays in the Alicia Duffy movie All Good Children.
Jack explained, “Dara is a normal school kid, who lives in Dublin but then he moves to France with his brother and his dad. The main thing about Dara is the fact that he is living in denial of his mother’s death and that’s the main thing that pushes him and provokes him to do other things.”
Gleeson added, “At the start it’s normal and lull’s the audience in to a false sense of security because you think it’s nice, kids having a good time, a summer romance, but then it goes bad. It goes from innocent to unsettling quite suddenly.”
All Good Children centres around Dara, who has to move to France with his brother Eoin, played by David Brazil, after the death of their mother. Once there, they befriend a local English family and Dara falls for their daughter Bella, played by Imogen Jones. However, once Bella begins to pull away from Dara, things take a turn for the worse.
If you have not seen All Good Children, we recommend that you do. Jack Gleeson will be reprising his role of Joffrey in the HBO fantasy television drama Game of Thrones, when season two premieres on HBO on April 15, 2012.
