Following the huge success of the hit HBO fantasy drama series Game of Thrones, we have seen a large number of relatively unknown stars going on to become household names and moving on to bigger, Hollywood movie projects since. We have already seen Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke landing some very impressive and exciting roles and now it is time for another Game of Thrones star to land a huge big screen role.

Famke Janssen played Jean Grey
With the X-Men movie franchise going back in time and showing us how the characters all came together, we have seen a number of the characters from the original X-Men trilogy being recast by younger stars. With X-Men: Apocalypse being the next movie to hit the big screen, we have heard a lot of rumours about which characters we will be seeing being recast by younger stars for the movie.
It was previously claimed that there was a battle between Chloe Moretz, Hailee Steinfeld, and Elle Fanning for the role of young Jean Grey, with actress Famke Janssen, who played the role in the original X-Men trilogy, tipping Elle Fanning for the role. However, it seems that none of these actresses have managed to land the role, as it has now been confirmed that Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner has been cast in the role.

Sophie Turner plays Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones
Sophie Turner rose to stardom playing the role of Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones and being cast as young Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse will be her biggest role since. Bryan Singer tweeted confirmation of the casting and it will be interesting to see Sophie in a different role and whether she has what it takes to pull off the role of Jean Grey.
X-Men: Apocalypse will open on May 19, 2016 in the UK and on May 27, 2016 in the US.
