There have been plenty of people talking about the gender issues in Hollywood in recent years and, while there are being some positive changes being made, there are still plenty of people who have experienced this. British beauty Gemma Arterton stars in the new movie Their Finest and, while she was talking about what she loves most about the film, Arterton also spoke about the fact that she is still not paid the same of the men in Hollywood.
Arterton was chatting during a Q&A about Their Finest, when she explained, "I'm not being paid as much as the men. I'm having to ask for a pay rise. But I think ... that's what I like about this film. It nods to all the facts without kind of grabbing it down your throat. This film kind of lets you take that in."
She added, "And of course, you know, it still is the case that most of the time on the film set it's female make-up artists, costume mistress and script supervisor. And it's quite rare to have a gender-balanced crew. But it's changing, which is really encouraging with the BAFTA rule, which is really good."
While Gemma Arterton takes on the female lead in Their Finest, the rest of the cast for the new movie includes other such Hollywood stars as Sam Claflin, Bill Nighy, Jack Huston, and Jeremy Renner, among plenty of others. Their Finest has been directed by Lone Scherfig, based on the screenplay that Gaby Chiappe adapted from the Lissa Evans novel, with the movie set to hit the big screen on April 7 in the US and on April 21 in the UK.
