Fans may know Gemma Whelan as Yara Greyjoy in Game of Thrones, but they probably don't know what she had to go through to get the part. When describing her audition for the role, Whelan reveals that she had to go through an 'interesting' experience.
She explains that one of the scenes she had to do for the audition was 'pleasuring somebody while riding a horse', but she claims she didn't mind doing it.
She told Yahoo UK, "It was weird, but the casting director makes you feel ... so comfortable. I just had to pretend I was on a horse and I was 'seeing to' somebody behind me as I rode my horse and [the casting director] said, 'Look straight down the barrel of the camera and just go for it.' So there I was."
While that's certainly not the norm for most auditions, Game of Thrones does have a large variety of risque scenes and I'm sure the casting directors need to know that the actors and actresses are comfortable with these scenes. Whelan does a fantastic job as Yara Greyjoy, and there's no doubt that she's perfect for the job.
