So the movie remakes just keep coming, as it was recently confirmed that they are still pushing ahead with the plans to make a new Kickboxer movie, with Jean-Claude Van Damme once again returning to the film. We have seen a fair bit more casting news surrounding the movie since then and it has now been confirmed that fighter turned actress Gina Carano has signed on for a role in the film.
Gina Carano is set to take on the role of a fight promoter, while Jean-Claude Van Damme will play the role of Master Chow, a fight mentor who trains the rookie Kurt Sloane, played by Alain Moussi. Kurt is determined to learn how to fight, in order to avenge the death of his brother at the hands of Tong Po, who is played by Dave Bautista.
As well as starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, Gina Carano, Dave Bautista and Alain Moussi, the Kickboxer remake will also feature Georges St. Pierre, Sara Malakul Lane, and Sam Medina. Kickboxer will be directed by John Stockwell, based on a script that has been adapted by Dimitri Logothetis and John McGrath, with the movie hoping to open some time in 2015.
Meanwhile, in the acting career of Gina Carano, we will next seen the actress on the big screen in the movie Bus 657, which also stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Kate Bosworth, Robert De Niro, and Dave Bautista. Bus 657 has been directed by Scott Dann and is now awaiting an official release date in both the US and the UK but is expected in 2015.
