Liverpool defender Glen Johnson could be moving on in the summer and rumours state that both Arsenal & Real Madrid are interested in the player. His contract, which is currently worth £100,000 a week to the player, expires in 2015, however Liverpool may be willing to listen to offers sooner than that to get some money for the player - and to free up their wage bill for other players.
This year has not been the best for Glen Johnson, he has struggled for form, since returning from his recent injury his performances have been decidedly mixed - with some fans saying that they should do everything in their power to keep him at Anfield and some saying that there are better, younger defenders coming up through the ranks.
His contract talks have stalled slightly and there are differences between what Johnson would like from Liverpool & what Liverpool are willing to give him. Sources claim that they do want to extend his contract but they want to significantly reduce his salary & Johnson may not be willing to do that.
It remains to be seen if Johnson and Liverpool can work out their contract differences by 2015 or whether Liverpool will start listening to offers for the player before the end of the season, if they can't work out the contract dispute, it seems likely that Liverpool would rather sell him than let his contract expire. Will Johnson be making the move to Spain or just heading to London. One thing seems clear - it seems to be unlikely that his salary will be increasing if he does choose to stay at Liverpool.
