There have been many times in the past where we have seen awards ceremonies dominated by one or two movies, with a lot of the gongs being taken home by the people involved in these movies. Last night saw the 2014 Golden Globes take place and there were plenty of movies with the potential to dominate the evening.
Movies such as American Hustle, Gravity and 12 Years A Slave all had the potential, and the nominations, to make the night their own but, quite surprisingly this did not actually happen. Instead the Golden Globes 2014 saw a big mix of winners, with the awards being spread among the films in the running.
If there had t be one stand out movie on the night, then it would probably be the David O. Russell film American Hustle, which saw Amy Adams take home the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical, while Jennifer Lawrence bagged the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture.
The Golden Globes are usually a good indicator for what to expect from the Academy Awards and, with the nominations being revealed this Thursday, it is likely that we will see many of the same names appearing. It will be interesting to see whether one movie can dominate at the Oscars this year, which take place in March.
