Although Green Lantern failed to make any real impression at the worldwide box office, Warner Bros. are still convinced that there is still a place out there for a Green Lantern sequel. It is also expected that if Green Lantern 2 does get the go ahead, it will be much darker.
Jeff Robinov, the Warner Bros. film group president explained, "I don't believe there is superhero fatigue. Every year there are half a dozen or more horror films and comedies. Superheroes have become a genre of their own and, if you deliver, there's an audience." He then spoke of the edginess of the sequel.
Robinov added, “[I want it to be] a little darker and edgier with more emphasis on action." A Green Lantern sequel looked doubtful after it only made $147 million worldwide after splashing out $200 million on the budget for the movie. Whether a follow on sequel will be made or if the movie will be rebooted is not yet known.
