Vanity Fair announced that they were putting together a profile on Gwyneth Paltrow, and sources say that they first reached out to Paltrow in the hopes of working together to put together a cover story. However, after recent 'unflattering' cover stories on Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt [for World War Z], Paltrow reportedly declined.
When the magazine announced their intention to go ahead with the article, Paltrow reportedly told all her friends and family not to participate.
A source told the NY Post, "The magazine said it was going to proceed with the story without her, so her team has been asking people not to talk at all.”
It will be interesting to see what the magazine writes, but it seems odd that Paltrow declined. While the profile on Tom Cruise was definitely negative, the one on Brad Pitt was pretty decent. Most celebrity profiles are almost always flattering, especially when the celebrity collaborates on the story. In this case, it seems strange that Paltrow would see the need to actively deny them access to her life. After all, her latest movie 'Iron Man 3' was a huge hit, and her GOOP brand is doing better than ever. I guess we'll just have to wait to find out.
