Young, up and coming actress Hailee Steinfeld certainly made an impression, when she portrayed the character Mattie Ross in the remake of the movie True Grit. In fact she made such an impression that she was nominated for an Oscar, and now it appears that she is set to take on another remake.
Hailee is set to take on the role of Juliet in the retelling of the famous William Shakespeare play Romeo and Juliet. It will be the first lead role for the young actress and it will be interesting to see how she copes with carrying a film. Although she will be sharing the load with Douglas Booth, who is set to play Romeo.
The screenplay for this retelling on Romeo and Juliet has been written by Julian Fellowes, who penned Gosford Park and The Tourist. Romeo and Juliet is expected to begin filming in September under the direction of Carlo Carlei, it will also star Vampire Diaries actor Paul Wesley as Paris, while Holly Hunter will play The Nurse. Expect this to be released towards the end of 2012.
