Hollywood veteran Harrison Ford is set to appear on the big screen this week, in his latest movie 42, which focusses on the life of Jackie Robinson. Harrison has been talking about the upcoming movie and exactly what it was that drew him to the role.
During an interview with the guys over at Collider, Ford explained, "The thing that attracted me to this project was the quality of the script that I read, and the understanding and the sheer capacity to know where success lives, in the business of making movies. And I don’t mean box office success, but in the quality of the writing and ambition of the writing."
He added, "I never even thought about doing this because it was something that I’d never done before, and I didn’t think about proving anything to anyone. I just thought that this was such an ambitious and well-qualified recipe for the opportunity to be a part of something great, and I think it is. Without Brian’s commitment, and all of the actors’ commitment to the ideas that Brian illuminated, in a very disciplined way with an incredibly light touch, we wouldn’t have this piece of work."
As well as starring Harrison Ford 42 also stars Chadwick Boseman, Christopher Meloni and Alan Tudyk. 42 has been written and directed by Brian Helgeland and is set to be released this Friday (April 12) in the US.
