Last year saw the last of the Harry Potter movies after the second part of the final J.K. Rowling book was adapted for the big screen in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. With a budget of $125m there was always going to be huge profit in it and sure enough the movie went on to make over $1.33B worldwide.

The Harry Potter franchise is undoubtedly one of the most lucrative around and is going to make money forever but is that guarantee enough to satisfy everybody. Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has already mentioned that she may be tempted to return to the Harry Potter series in the future, which would guarantee a new movie being and Daniel Radcliffe has admitted that he would not rule out returning.
However, a new novel could take years to write and J.K. is already working on different material. There is always the prospect of rebooting the Harry Potter series but since it is not that old, that is highly unlikely, as would be remake the movie all together on a different tangent.

There is always the possibility of somebody writing a screenplay for a sequel without there being a new book but they would surely need permission to do so. So then, how about a Harry Potter spin-off? We could see a new generation of wizards and witches attending Hogwarts with a new villain on board. Or we could focus on the lives of Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Hermione (Emma Watson) and Ron (Rupert Grint) post Hogwarts.
While the Harry Potter series does currently appear to be at an end, one thing is for certain. We have not seen the last of the Harry Potter movies and it will return to the big screen in one form or another. It is just a matter of time.
