These past few months, Fifty Shades of Grey fans have been anticipating screenwriter Kelly Marcel’s every move on Twitter, hoping that it will lend them some insight on how far the progress on the script has come along.
Now, it looks the script has finally been completed, if hints from Kelly Marcel and author EL James on Twitter are anything to go by. Marcel tweeted, “excited for @E_L_James to get here. Got something to show her," and then James said, “Lovely to see.”
EL James also recently tweeted, “Good moaning all... I have been awake since 4 am... (sighs)... Luckily I had some very interesting reading to catch up... ;)”
Now that it looks like the script has finally been completed, the next step is to find a director. Since the movie is slated to come out next summer during blockbuster season, it will have to be a competent filmmaker who gets the job – and one who is able to turn the material into something everyone can see. Soon after, the most anticipated stage of pre-production will begin: the casting. Although Emilia Clarke and Henry Cavill seem to be the fan favorites, no one is commenting on their potential involvement in the film. Despite this, expect whoever is cast to have to deal with a fan frenzy the likes of which hasn’t been seen since the early days of the Twilight or Hunger Games franchise.
