It has been reported that The X Factor USA reject Astro has been signed up by hip hop legend Jay-Z. Astro was eliminated from The X Factor USA last week and it has been claimed that Jay-Z and his record label Roc-Nation have already snapped up the fifteen year old rapper. However, it appears that this is not necessarily true.
When an act signs up to The X Factor they are then under contract for a year, so the reports of Astro being signed by Jay-Z and Roc-Nation cannot be true, as he is already under contract. The news that Astro has signed to Roc-Nation is pure speculation, after Jay-Z admitted to being a fan of Astro and praised the teenager for his obvious talent.
Jay-Z explained, “I first heard about this exciting new talent and decide to watch some of his performances. Not only was I impressed with his performances, but to see the confidence he sang with, his lyrics and diction were on point.” Nowhere does anybody mention that Astro has been signed.
There are also rumours afoot that Astro will be collaborating with Willow Smith but under the terms and conditions of his contract, this can only be done with The X Factor’s say so. So do not believe all the hype and the rumours about Astro signing to Jay-Z’s Roc-Nation record label, as it simply cannot happen due to his X Factor contract.
