No, it turns out that Nashville is not based on Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift has a new interview with Time Magazine where she talks about her new album, Red, which drops October 22. When congratulated on being the first artist to meld country and dub step, she talks about how it came up: “I actually came up with the melody on piano, and brought it to [producers] Max Martin and Shellback and said, I want to finish this, and I want to make it sound as chaotic as that emotion felt. I’ll sing the base line. I just want it to sound like this: poom poom poom poom poom. And they’re like, maybe we can infuse a little bit of dubstep. It’s one of the most adventurous songs on the record, soundwise. I love it. I’m so proud that it’s sitting at number one on iTunes.”

She also talks about being neighbors with Hayden Panetierre, who is the lead on ‘Nashville’, which many are saying it based on Taylor Swift. However, Swift herself debunks those rumors, saying the first thing that Hayden told her when they met was, “The first thing that she ever said to me when I first met her was, “My character is not based on you.”
She also adds that her being reported to play Joni Mitchell in the feature film has not been confirmed, saying, “That’s actually not confirmed. I wish I could say it’s confirmed! But the thing about movies that I’ve learned is—I’ve been reading scripts for five years, and you just don’t know what ones are going to get greenlit and which ones aren’t, so I can’t talk about it unless it’s the real thing.”
