Henry Cavill has finally opened up about the rumor whirlwind regarding his possible participation in the upcoming ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ adaptation. While promoting ‘Man of Steel’, Cavill was met with a question [in a Total Film article via HenryCavill.org] about whether he’s interested in playing Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey.

Fifty Shades of Grey casting has been hotly debated
His response was coy, with him saying, “Fifty Shades Of Grey is... erm… it’s all rumours at this stage. I haven’t got a script or an offer or anything. If I do, that decision would be made when the time comes.”
He also adds that it’s all about the story, saying, “It would be all about the script!” Of course, we know that screenwriter Kelly Marcel has yet to finish the adaptation of the book, and producers have yet to start officially casting. However, there have been rumors that the filmmakers have unofficially reached out to certain actors and expressed interest in having them audition.

Henry Cavill as Superman in 'Man of Steel'
Cavill himself doesn’t confirm or deny the rumors that he’s been approached, but fan casting had placed him at the top of a very long list of actors to take the role of Christian Grey. In addition to Ian Somerhalder, Cavill seems to top every fan poll he’s a part of – but unlike Somerhalder, Cavill is not expressing or denying interest either way.
