There have been quite a few people over the past few months, who have been suggesting that the Justice League movie will round off the Superman trilogy with Henry Cavill in the role, following on from Man of Steel back in 2013 and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016, which would suggest that this would be the end of him playing the character, which we all know is not the case.
First off, the Justice League movie is due to be released in two parts, so we will see Henry Cavill returning as Clark Kent aka Superman for that movie, while it has pretty much been confirmed that we are going to get a Man of Steel 2. A few weeks back, it was suggested that Matthew Vaughn would be interested in directing Man of Steel 2, and now the man himself has hinted at being involved in the movie.
Vaughn has been doing the rounds to promote his new movie Kingsman: The Golden Circle, when talk turned to a possible Superman project, with the director admitting, "I am planning another Kingsman, I’ve written the treatment and some of the scenes…I don’t know what I’m going to do next but I have had chats about Superman, I love Superman. If somebody asks me to do Indiana Jones, most of the superheros or Star Wars the fanboy in me can’t help but be excited."
Warner Bros. and DC already have a huge number of comic book movies planned for the next few years, so it will be interesting to see where they will fit another one in, but you can pretty much guarantee that Henry Cavill will be back as Superman in Man of Steel 2 at some point in the future.
