There have been a lot of young and talented actresses who have come from playing the same character for many years, almost becoming typecast by that character. Some of these stars manage to move away from that character and go on to have successful careers elsewhere, while others never manage to leave the character behind.
Actress Hilary Duff has been in the entertainment industry for many years, growing up on our screens, and she has clearly had a lot of lessons to learn along the way. Hilary has opened up about some of the lessons she has learned, claiming that the biggest thing of all is learning not to take what people think and say about her too seriously.
Duff explained, "To not care what other people think! When I was younger, I would read stuff about myself online. But I've realised I know who I am, my friends know who I am, my family know who I am - and to me, that's all that matters."
Hilary Duff is, and probably always will be, best known for playing the role of Lizzie McGuire, having played the character for three years up until it ended back in 2004. While some people still see her as Lizzie McGuire, Hilary has admitted that she has grown up a lot since then.
Duff added, "I don't think people expect me to be Lizzie McGuire forever, but they seem to still have this young image of me in their heads, so it's hard for them to understand that I've grown up a lot. I don't wear a retainer or play with Barbie."
Sorry Hilary but you are always going to be Lizzie McGuire in our eyes!
