It has been reported that How I Met Your Mother is set to have a storyline where Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) reveals that he is actually gay. The storyline is set to come after the wedding of Barney to his mystery bride later this season.
Barney confides in Ted (Josh Radnor), who then gets the rest of the gang together in a show of support for their friend. However, Barney denies that he ever said such a thing to Ted before threatening him that he cannot tell his wife or their friendship is over.
A How I Met Your Mother insider explained. “It is a tough situation for Ted. He has already betrayed Barney’s trust by telling the others and he does not want to lose his friendship but at the same time he does not think it is fair to live a lie in a false marriage.”
Barney has been becoming more and more camp this season, with singing and dancing routines, in a build up to the big revelation. Barney claims that his womanising ways have just been a cover up, as he struggles to accept his sexuality. How I Met Your Mother airs on CBS on Monday nights.
