How I Met Your Mother showrunner Carter Bays has revealed that fans of the show are set to be very satisfied with the finale of the current season. Carter admitted that, while Ted (Josh Radnor) and Robin (Cobie Smulders) currently have a lot of tension between them, the season finale will still be pleasing.

Bays explained to Entertainment Weekly, “We went for the reality of those situation. I feel like on this show we've gone as far as we can go where it's just the gang hanging out at the bar week in and week out.”
He added, “With these big things happening to them that don't really change things. Ted and Robin have now reached the point where it's not as simple as hanging out at the bar and forgetting the fact that Ted's in love with her, and she's not in love with him.”

Carter continued, “It's complicated...[But] I feel like [there's] a satisfying ending - the way it all wraps up as the season comes to a close.” Carter Bays also admitted that the love triangle involving Ted, Robin and Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) is set to linger as the series develops.
How I Met Your Mother continues on CBS at 8/7c on CBS.
