While we were all just beginning to come to terms with the fact that Hugh Jackman was finished in his role as Wolverine, Disney announced that they were on the verge of getting the rights to the character, which would almost definitely see him joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This has the fans very excited about the future of both Wolverine and the MCU, with many hoping that Hugh Jackman would do a U-turn and reprise the role for at least one more movie, hopefully even more.
With the rumours spreading thick and fast, Hugh Jackman has decided to take the time to talk about the possibility of returning to play Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hugh says that, while he could always envision Wolverine fighting alongside the Avengers in the MCU, he thinks his time has passed and that he would be excited to see a new actor playing Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Jackman said, "It’s interesting because for the whole 17 years I kept thinking that would be so great, like I would love to see, particularly, Iron Man and the Hulk and Wolverine together. And every time I saw an Avengers movie I could just see Wolverine in the middle of all of them like punching them all on the head."
He added, "But it was like, 'Oh well, that’s not gonna happen,' and it was interesting just when I first saw that headline — it was just the possibility of it and who knows what’s gonna happen, obviously — I was like, 'Hang on!' But I think, unfortunately, the ship has sailed for me, but for someone else I would like to see Wolverine in there."
We cannot wait to see Wolverine joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe and, while we would love to see Hugh Jackman returning to the role, we are also looking forward to seeing which actor will take over.
