It looks like actress Jennifer Lawrence is not the only member of the X-Men: Days of Future Past cast who had to get her kit off for the upcoming movie sequel, as Hugh Jackman has revealed that he had to shoot a nude scene as Wolverine. However, while Jennifer's character Mystique has to be nude, although covered in body paint, it seems that Hugh did not necessarily need to be.
While promoting X-Men: Days of Future Past, Hugh Jackman spoke about shooting his nude scene, admitting that in the script it said that the character was actually wearing boxer shorts. While reading the scene though, Hugh thought it would make much more sense for his character to be naked, and the rest of the crew agreed with his idea.
Jackman explained, "It wasn't written as a nude scene. The scene has Wolverine, because the whole premise of the movie is it has Wolverine traveling back in time to prevent something cataclysmic happening in the future. So I land back in 1973. I wake up -- this is what the script says -- wake up next to a girl who I don't remember, and I get out of bed wearing boxer shorts. I don't know about America, but in Australia, if you are next to a really good-looking girl, you're not getting out with boxer shorts on or briefs, or anything!"
While Hugh Jackman was more than happy to shoot the scene naked, the crew wanted him to wear a green sock over his private parts, to make it easier for them to edit it out should it come into shot. Hugh agreed to wear the sock initially but admits that he soon got annoyed with the sock and just ended up going commando anyway.
Jackman added, "There's a sock. They brought a bright green sock for me to wear and I was like, 'This is kind of drawing more attention than less.' And they said, 'No, no, no we need bright green like a green screen, so if you bend over, if you turn around, we need to erase it.' By the end of the first take, I was like, 'Yep, it's gone, I don't know where it is.' So, yeah commando."
X-Men: Days of Future Past opens on Thursday, May 22 in the UK, before then opening on Friday, May 23 in the US.
