As most of you will know, Hugo Weaving lent his vocal talents to the voice of Megatron in the Michael Bay Transformers movies, which went on to make hundreds of millions of dollars each worldwide and accumulated over $2 billion all together. However, it appears that, while the Transformers movies were a huge success, Hugo found his personal input meaningless.

Weaving explained, “That’s a weird job for me because it honestly was a two-hour voice job, initially. I was doing a play and I actually didn’t have time, anyway. It was one of the only things I’ve ever done where I had no knowledge of it, I didn’t care about it, I didn’t think about it. They wanted me to do it. In one way, I regret that bit. I don’t regret doing it, but I very rarely do something if it’s meaningless. It was meaningless to me, honestly. I don’t mean that in any nasty way.”
As well as finding his input in the Transformers movies meaningless, Hugo also admitted that he had nothing to do with Michael Bay during the production of the films. He claims that he never once met Michael Bay and did not really have any idea what the lines he was reading were actually about.

He added, “My link to Michael Bay is so minimal. I have never met him. I was never on set. I’ve seen his face on Skype. I know nothing about him, really. I just went in and did it. I never read the script. I just have my lines, and I don’t know what they mean. That sounds absolutely pathetic! I’ve never done anything like that, in my life. It’s hard to say any more about it than that, really.”
After the third instalment of the Transformers franchise, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Michael Bay claimed that he would not be returning for anymore Transformers movies. However, he has since changed his mind and is returning to direct Transformers 4 but he has admitted that there will be all new autobots, as well as a new human cast. So, fortunately for Hugo Weaving, Megatron will not be appearing, so he will not need to give his meaningless input.
