When it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we are seeing more and more characters making an appearance on the big screen every year but there is still plenty of talk about previous characters and whether they will make a return in future movies. One such former character is Red Skull, who was played by actor Hugo Weaving and appeared in Captain America: The First Avenger.
In the past, Hugo Weaving has insisted that he had no intention of reprising his role as Red Skull in any Marvel movie but, since progress has been getting made on Captain America: Civil War, talk has once again turned it being a possibility. However, Hugo has once again come out to admit that the chances of seeing him as Red Skull again in the future are very unlikely.
Weaving told IAmRogue, "My views have not changed. You never know what might or might not happen. But my views have not really changed. I certainly have not had any conversations with anyone about that. No change at all on that landscape. I was talking to you about another Matrix, and I doubt that would happen. But there are always circumstances. Certain circumstances do change, and there is always a good reason to revisit or reinvestigate something."
He added, "It may not be worth following, but it is always good to keep your options open and your mind open. Having said all of that, I have not really changed my opinion about not wanting to do another Captain America. It was fun to do. It was a very great thing to do in many ways, but I suppose my focus is more likely to be elsewhere, but who knows."
Captain America: Civil War will open on April 29, 2016 in the UK, before then going on to hit the big screen in the US on May 6, 2016.
