The Vampire Diaries actor Ian Somerhalder, who plays the character Damon in the hit The CW vampire series, has been discussing the relationship between his character and his brother Stefan (Paul Wesley). The two vampires are caught in a love triangle with Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Ian admits that it is all set to come to a head.
Somerhalder explained to TV Guide, “What's interesting about what's happening right now is the dynamic between the brothers. The episode coming up is really about these brothers overcoming their disdain for each other.”
He added, "[They're] ultimately realising that family is really embedded into the fabric of who we are and if you can connect with that it's really powerful.”
Ian continued, “This whole Damon-Elena-Stefan thing is coming to a head. Stefan (Paul Wesley) knows that there are feelings flying around between the three of them and he's man enough to understand that this is a symptom of love and how complicated it can be.” Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev are currently dating each other off screen, as well as being love interests on screen.
The Vampire Diaries continues on The CW every Thursday at 8/7c.
